It’s no surprise that most homeowners are worried about the potential risks associated with electricity. But what most don’t know is that the likelihood of being electrocuted or shocked by wiring is low. Through proper guidance and user-friendly fixtures, you can erase the fear of installing lighting.

The Knowledge

Before installing, we do the following:
1. Find your breaker box (usually a big grey metal box in a basement or closet).
2. Take a picture of the breakers so you know which ones go in the ON and OFF position after you install.
3. Flip each individual breaker to OFF. You’ll hear a click as you flip the breaker.
4. Flip the double-width switch on the main breaker to OFF.
5. Test all wires with a non-contact circuit/voltage tester to make sure the power is off. You can find one at a local hardware store.
6. Wear electrical insulated rubber gloves as extra protection. You can find one at a local hardware store.
