The KODA™ Motion Activated Solar LED Floodlight adds safety and security to your home without sacrificing aesthetics. Powered by the sun, this security light needs no electrical power or wiring! Features fully-adjustable dual head cylinder lamps. Detects motion up to 80ft away, with a wide 240° detection zone. My solar floodlight was bright at first. But it is not reaching full brightness anymore. Why is it happening and how do I fix it?

Most likely the batteries in the unit are not reaching a sufficient charge level during the day, causing a diminished light output at night. Please follow these steps to accurately diagnose and correct the issue.

First, turn the unit OFF. Slide the ‘Off(O)/ On(I) / Test🔍 Control’ to “Off(O)”. Control is under the movable PIR sensor head.
Open the battery compartment and ensure batteries are present and in the correct polarity. Replace the battery housing and switch unit back to “On(I)”.
Second, observe the sun’s position at peak sun hours (usually midday), and ensure solar panel is positioned to receive direct sunlight.
Third (if issues persist), we advise you to turn the unit “Off(O)”, and place the solar panel in direct sunlight for a period of 3-7 days, which will allow batteries to charge via solar power without discharging at night.
If all the above fails, please initiate a return of the product. You may return the product directly to KODA or you can return the unit directly to the retailer (subject to retailer’s return policy). Additionally, take the solar panel’s male cable connector and fully push-into light fixture’s port to ensure it is properly seated.

Why is my solar flood light not turning on anymore?

Most likely the batteries in the unit are not reaching a sufficient charge level during the day. The battery may be struggling to absorb enough charge during the day, resulting in no light at night. Please follow these steps to accurately diagnose and correct the issue.

How long does the solar charge last?

Assuming batteries are fully charged and relatively new (within 12 months of purchase), the unit will stay lit continuously for about 90 minutes. Be advised that brightness will begin to diminish (i.e., dim) as the batteries discharge. Once batteries are fully discharged, allow more time for batteries to charge to sufficient levels. (Otherwise, the unit may not activate as expected the following night). To fully recharge batteries, turn the unit OFF (via control switch underneath mounting canopy, see instruction manual for more details) for a period of 3 - 7 days. This will allow batteries to charge via solar power without discharging at night.

Why does the solar floodlight come on without any movement around it?

You may need to adjust the ‘Sensitivity’ dial. (Look for icon of man with radiating lines from head.) Sensitivity control is found under the solar floodlight’s PIR sensor. (See Instruction Manual for more information.)

When ‘Sensitivity’ is dialed high, flood lights are known to activate from the slightest movement, including wind or rain. You may wish to conduct a “walking test” in the flood light’s detection zone to ensure ‘Sensitivity’ is not dialed too low.

Finally, ensure that the floodlight is not too close to tree foliage, which may “trick” the motion sensor.
